Here is my latest painting “The Coils of Time”.
It was commissioned by my friend Milica Jelaca – Jovanovic, very successful pianist, piano professor at Western Washington University in Bellingham for her new CD, “BRIGHT MOODS”, Journey through time, and space guided by the music of Prokofiev, Karaca, Radovanovic, Briggs, Radic, Sommer and Bartok.
Here is the quote from Christopher Key’s article in the Entertainment News from February, 19th 2012:
“Milica Jelaca-Jovanovic performed a Prokofiev piano concerto with the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra this afternoon and earned a thunderous ovation that probably registered at the University of Washington seismic lab. “

2011 is gearing towards the end....and what a year it has been!!!

So much turmoil all around the world. For us who survived a war, and lived to talk about it, observing these "hot spots" around the wold is a little bit uncomfortable, the least.....I just had to dive into my art, hope that all the hardship that regular people are going through in these places are going to stop soon, that the changes are for good, not for someones monetary profit as it seems to me is the case always during a war.

So, let's dive into the Art....I had an incredible year. SO much progress, so many new paintings and techniques developed that I'm really proud of myself.

One of it is the use of brocade fabric and attaching it to the canvas I'm painting on. Here is an example of it in my painting "Communication", that had been featured at the Fraker/Scott Seattle gallery during the "Icon" show in September.

I have painted more than 10 paintings with the birds as a subject, used the same technique, and got an amazing results. Here are couple of them:

These paintings got so many compliments, especially during the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour in October. This year I have opened my studio/home to the visitors for the first time. I was a little bit anxious to do it, but I'm glad I did it. So many nice people came by, and brought they love for the art into my home. I'm grateful to all of them for choosing me, my studio, and my art to visit between other artists who had participated in the tour. I hope that they will keep coming back and again as years pass by.

My latest great news is that my painting "Red and Nude III" has been featured in the Southwest Art Magazine, January 2012 issue, Special focus: Painting the Figure, what a honor!!!!!!!

As this year is getting towards the end, I'm painting 4 paintings at the same time. Two nude paintings are for the UNCLAD show in Stanwood that is going to take place in March. The third painting was commissioned by my Whatcom Tour visitor. The fourth painting is for the Allied Arts of Bellingham members show, and a deadline is on January 1st.
Here is a sneak peak to one of the nude paintings, almost finished. I'm still looking for the title.

So, I hope that I'll keep this steady progress into 2012, and that I'll have as many visitors to my studio throughout the year.
In the moments when our soul speaks to us in a quiet, perhaps even a silent voice, giving us this great power and influence at conscious and unconscious level, the best art is created. This energy of our soul is woven into the art creation that can be recognized and felt by others

Wish you all Happy and prosperous new 2012!!!!
